Application & Hiring Process

The NYC Public Schools Teacher Application for full-time teaching positions for the 2024-25 school year is now open! If you are a New York State-certified teacher, or are on track to be certified by September 1, 2025, we recommend applying ASAP.

The Application Process 

The NYC Teacher Application is required for all candidates who want to teach at New York City Public Schools. If your application is accepted, you’ll be entered into our New Teacher Finder where you can search for jobs, apply, and find your ideal position! Follow the steps below to get started.

Step 1: Gather your application materials 

We recommend gathering all your application materials before beginning your application. The NYC Teacher Application Guide reviews everything you’ll need. 

Step 2: Submit your application 

1. First, create an account by clicking on "New User" and completing your Common Profile 
2. Next, start your application. The NYC Teacher Application Guide walks you step-by-step through the application process. You can also find answers to FAQs in our Online Support Center. 
3. Finally, submit your application. You won’t be able to search for open positions until after your application is submitted, reviewed, and accepted by our team.

Step 3: Find and apply to open positions 

1. After our recruitment team has reviewed your application and accepted it, your application will be entered into the New Teacher Finder. 
2. The New Teacher Finder will enable you to search for open teaching positions and be searchable by hiring managers and principals. Principals and hiring managers can contact you, and you can contact them. 
3. Tailor your resume and cover letter so your application stands out. 
4. You will also have access to job search webinars and exclusive networking events to meet principals and hiring managers. 

Step 4: Prepare for Your Start Date 

1. Once hired, you’ll need to complete several tasks before your first day, including getting fingerprinted. You will receive specific instructions for everything required.
