Ed Prep NYC

Ed Prep NYC is an alternative teacher preparation program exclusively for NYCPS school-based staff. Participants attend a subsidized master's program in specific subject areas while getting real classroom experience. Throughout the program, they receive support from school leaders, the Ed Prep NYC team, and their cohort, all working together to help them build a successful teaching career.

Ed Prep NYC offers aspiring teachers many benefits including: 

• Subsidized master's in teaching at CUNY partner universities 
• Full-time teacher’s salary of $66,733 or more 
• Comprehensive benefits including the NYC pension plan 
• Participation in a professional learning series to assist aspiring teachers in customizing instruction to meet individual needs and learning styles 
• Certification in subject areas with the highest need citywide 
• Mentorship from NYC Men Teach Ambassadors to enhance your teaching practice 
• Support and guidance from school leadership using the Danielson Rubric as an instructional, evaluative tool 

ELIGIBILITY 

Ed Prep NYC is open to current NYCPS employees who: 

• Possess a bachelor’s degree or higher in a major other than education 
• Achieved a minimum 2.8 minimum GPA 

TIMELINE

• September 2024: Application opens 
• October 2024: Accepted candidates apply to CUNY program 
• November 2024: CUNY application deadline 
• January 2025: CUNY classes begin
